Glossary of terms
The main URL is the URL of the first page in your site. This is the page from which all the contents of your site should be reachable, hence all of the contents of your site should be linked to, directly or indirectly, from this page. Minisearch uses the URL you give in your profile as the main URL.
An entrance is similar to the main URL and our robot uses is to index your site. Most of the contents of your site should be linked to from an entrance. A well designed website should not need to use optional entrances, they are only necessary if you cannot reach certain parts of your site from the main URL, or if parts of your site do not have the same root as your URL.
The root of a URL is the part of the URL that our robot uses to distinguish between a URL on your site and a URL on another site. For example, the URL:
http://www.spacesurfer.com/wceleb/entrance.html
has the root:
http://www.spacesurfer.com/wceleb/
Our robot will index all links on this page as long as their URL's start with http://www.spacesurfer.com/wceleb/. Hence http://www.spacesurfer.com/wceleb/links.html will be indexed, but http:/links.spacesurfer.com/ will not.
The title tag is the HTML tag used to set the title of a web page, this is the text that appears in the title bar of you browsers window, but not in the text of the page. For example the title tag for this page is "SpaceSurfer MiniSearch - Glossary". It is good practice to use title tags on all your pages.
Minisearch's search result page displays the title's of pages as well as their URL and their description.
